It’s that time of year again where the clocks ‘spring’ forward and we lose a whole precious hour of sleep. It turns out that I am not the only one who doesn’t know why the clocks move forward and back. And I’m sure other workplaces have had the same debates as we have had in our office today…it's something about farmers.
Additionally, I was very surprised to read that we apparently work an extra 2 hours a week in the summer. Surely we have something better to be doing like sunbathing in the sunny British weather, or in a beer garden enjoying a well-deserved brew? But apparently, when it’s still ‘daytime’, we put in the extra hours.
Here at PIE, we are encouraged, after a long day of work, to leave on time and enjoy our freedom… and the occasional shandy. Whilst you have the luxury of a bright “mild” evening, take it! As we all moan when it gets dark again!
So have a shandy and enjoy the summer months! The mornings will get lighter soon too..
But despite our strong feelings about it, not that many of us actually know the reasons why Daylight Saving was actually introduced in the first place.
