With the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now in full swing, surely drivers are staying away? Think again!
17,400 drivers with non compliant vehicles passed through London on a daily basis in April. This equates to around 16% of travel through the city. Which is pretty good going if you ask me in regards to owning or using a vehicle that is compliant (74%).
The Staggering numbers are to come! Of the 16% the TFL (Transport for London) make £220,000 a day. This figure is based on if they charged the passenger car ULEV rate, which is £12.50 on top of £11.50 congestion charge. If the vehicle was a HGV and is not compliant then its a Slap of £100. Which would equate to more than the £220,000 stated.
What I think is great is that the NO2 levels are 20% lower now than they were in February 2017 within the zones that are being charged. EV's are making a real difference but there is a lot more to do in this space.
What I hope to see is that the money raised is going to be invested into the further development of EV Charge points and infrastructure within the city. What are your thoughts?
