The Amazon EV fleet is out for delivery. Well nearly.

By Pie Recruitment

Amazon has ordered 100,000 EV Vans from the very exciting American start up - Rivian - at a cost of £350 million (so far).

Rivian is launching two 4 x 4 models onto the market in 2020. There's a pickup and an SUV, both based on the popular "skateboard" platform, meaning that you can essentially put any shell on top that you like. This is where the Delivery Van comes in.

The van is estimated to deliver a range of 450 miles from it's 180kWh battery. Is this going to deliver in more ways than one and be a success? If so, it could accelerate the business's pledge to have 80% of it's infrastructure at zero carbon by 2024 and 100% by 2030.

Their £350M investment into Rivian will help fast track the vehicles into service for 2021, with 10,000 scheduled to be on the road by 2022 and all 100,000 by 2030.
