Halloween has been and gone, Bonfire Night is over, so the only thing left is CHRISTMAS!!! And NYE obvs.
The reason I am writing this is because, I am the office DJ, but this week I made the fatal error of playing 'Last Christmas' by Wham! (up there with best songs of all time), and I got a barrage of abuse. And so the debate began...
Is it too early?
The overwhelming response was yes, it is. So I played it in the car on the way home instead. But it got me thinking, when does Christmas normally start? So I did some research.
I for one cannot wait for Christmas lights, Christmas songs, the John Lewis advert and weirdly that new show that Phillip Schofield does where he tests Christmas elements like the Co-op Christmas dinner ready meal - apparently, it's decent!
If, like me, can't wait for Christmas or you instead want to have a moan about how soon Christmas is starting, here are the results of my research and a little timeline of some of the things happening this Christmas:
1 - Carnaby Street London Christmas Lights - 7th November
2 - John Lewis Advert - between 5th - 15th November
3 - Oxford Street Christmas Lights - 21st November
4 - Winter Wonderland Opens - 21st November
5 - The Christmas Film of 2019 'Last Christmas' - 15th November
6 - I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - Rumored 17th November
7 - SantaCon (pub crawl in London dressed as Santa) - 7th December
8 - Christmas at Kew - Wednesday 20 November 2019 – Sunday 5 January 2020
So what I've discovered is that 7th November is officially when it's acceptable to start feeling Christmassy. See you tomorrow Wham!
It’s November 1 which means that many of us are storing away our Halloween decorations for another year. It also means another set of people will be unpacking their Christmas decorations (if they haven’t already). Depending on which camp you fall into, the idea of getting your Christmas tree out already will feel either mega exciting or mega ridiculous. But when is the right time to put up your Christmas decorations?
