Is the high flying CBD market under threat?

The CBD market has grown exponentially in the UK - with a wide array of food, beverage and supplement companies emerging day by day. With the UK population now having 1.6 million+ regular consumers of CBD based products - the FSA has now taken a strong stance to "weed out a lot of bad actors" with their new guidelines. The deadline for businesses to apply will be 31st March 2021 for a novel foods authorisation, although businesses will still be able to sell existing CBD products for the time being “provided they are correctly labelled, are not unsafe to eat and do not contain substances that fall under drugs legislation”.

With these new developments - will we still see this on-trend market continue to grow at the same rate? Or will these new regulations see companies go up in smoke? Only time will tell.
