When looking for a new job, perks/benefits/employee extras or whatever you want to call it, are playing a bigger part than ever before in the consideration process. One of those perks has traditionally been the company car.
The company car is like the OG of work perks, and even to this day people still get excited about it. They want to know what they can get, how often they can get a new one, whether or not they can upgrade, etc. But with all of the 'exciting' stuff going on in the UK at the moment (no-one say the B-word), the next 2 weeks could prove life-changing for the company car.
Have a read of this article written by Matt Terry from Mobilleo. He talks about how rather than giving an employee a company car, we should instead give them a mobility allowance. The employee then has complete control of how they decide to use it, i.e. half on their car, half on trains for example. It keeps them happy, helps the business with travel costs and could work out better for the environment. It's a win-win.
Employees are always going to need to travel, and my guess is that a large number are still going to want their company car perk. What do you think? Would you prefer to split your travel costs as you see fit?
