As many of you may know I’m the company newbie in the world of automotive recruitment but yesterday they entrusted me to take the wheel for a bit and I shifted straight into high gear as I had the pleasure of attending the NEC for the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show. And OMG, I had a blast!
For those unfamiliar with the CV show, it’s the ultimate playground for those who love all things trucks, vans, and lorries. This is where you'll discover the most innovative gadgets, accessories and industry insights that would make any truck enthusiast's heart race with excitement. It's also a fantastic opportunity for automotive recruiters like us to connect with industry leaders and innovators.
I couldn't help but feel like a dog in a butcher’s shop as I made my way through the maze of booths. Something that caught my eye straight away was the hydrogen powered truck from HVS - a potential industry game changer - and the cab looked so booshie I was ready to sell up and move in.
But by far and away the best part was learning about all the different companies there and meeting new people with the same passion as myself for the automotive industry. The likes of David Noon at Sykes-Pickavant, Chris Coyle at V-Tech Group and Andy Gear at Modul-System, as well as introducing myself to our long-standing clients LeasePlan, Nexus Vehicle Rental, Iveco Group, Fleet Operations, TraXall UK, VisionTrack, Webfleet, r2c Online and Chevin Fleet Solutions.
And of course, what's a trade show without free samples? I left with enough pens to start my own stationary shop and participated in everything I could, from axe throwing with the guys at Legend Flooring (I may have won some merch for getting a bullseye 🎯), testing my reflexes with Jaama, taking on a weight-holding challenge with Wurth and even a go at the coconut shy with IVECO’s #Chammoth, raising money for conservation efforts.
Overall, the Commercial Vehicle Show was an incredible experience. I never imagined that I would have so much fun at a trade show, but it just goes to show that you never know where the road may lead you in the automotive recruitment industry. 🚛🚚
