One of the questions I get asked a lot is how to transition into Customer Success.
Is it even possible when so many companies seem to be closed to the idea of finding transferable skillsets?
It is absolutely possible but you will need to be prepared to work a bit harder to get a role vs. someone who brings direct CS experience.
One of the biggest things you can do is immerse yourself in the CS world where you will find so much supportive content. In particular, I'd check out SuccessHACKER and the annual list of Top100 Thought Leaders.
I'd make sure to check out Erika Villarreal who posts amazing content on what steps she took to make the move into Customer Success. You can also sign up for her newsletter and you'll get a guide full of invaluable tips and resources.
I also published an article a while back - How to Stand Out from the Crowd. It's a little old now but it's still sound advice.
If you've made a similar career change then I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice on what makes a difference.
