The Customer Success profession has grown at a pace in recent years as most in SaaS will be aware of.
However, the industry’s momentum accelerated exponentially driven by Covid. The pandemic created a new sense of urgency around protecting and nurturing customers by highlighting the fact that customers truly are the core of every business.
What I've personally seen over the last twelve months is an astounding volume of companies hiring CSMs of different types and Customer Success leaders.
Right now feels like the perfect storm in the UK with such a high amount of demand for experienced CSMs and fewer people looking to change roles, unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
What is noticeable is a lack of realism amongst some hiring companies about salaries being offered in the market and the level of expected experience vs. their expected budget.
Some of this may be down to a lack of market understanding and what's required to compete for the limited pool of quality experienced CSMs available.
In my opinion, salaries have likely moved forward by 10-15% for CSMs over the last 18 months.
