So this morning we did our office sweep stake for the Euro and it's fair to say luck was on my side! I drew France and Germany, the two tournament favourites for Euro 2016.
Naturally I want England to win the competition, but it has been 50 years since England won a major tournament and I personally can't see our fortune changing this time around. Having said that, with a little bit of luck who knows what could happen?
With a great summer of sport ahead of us with the Olympics, Wimbledon, the Open and test series all still to come, I'm very much looking forward to the coming weeks. Let's hope we can manage to get some work done whilst all this is going on!!
It’s the most marvellous of quadrennials – a summer that contains all of the annual sporting staples (Wimbledon, the Open, a couple of Test series) plus the European football championships and the Olympic Games. It probably won’t beat the sweaty glory of 2012 – but, still, I’m not planning on leaving the house once. And what better way to improve watching Hungary and Iceland grind out a 1-1 draw than by making it interesting with a convoluted, low-stakes office sweepstake?
