Food Glorious Food!

By Pie Recruitment

Sometimes when I walk in to this office, I feel like a kid in a candy shop. Literally! Sweets, Crisps, Chocolates, Doughnuts, Cookies, Ice creams, Milk Chocolate Digestives & Milk Chocolate Hobnobs (the team’s favourites) everywhere…as far as the eye can see!

Unfortunately, my waistband has felt the wrath of all these sweet treats over the last year and a half, but that’s down to pure gluttony and lack of enthusiasm for the ‘gym life’/any form of movement outside of work!

So I wasn’t surprised to come across this article regarding a high percentage of people throughout the country who feel that work has an effect on their health and diet.

We all like a snack at work, and I personally think this seems to go hand in hand with an office based role. You can be hard at work, and before you know it, you’ll hear a rustle from across the room, where you must go to investigate the noise, and of course be the official taster!

But don’t let snacking get you down – there are obvious alternatives. Recently, I’ve swapped the sweeter treat for fruit and vegetables! A lot of my colleagues get out at lunch or after work to hit the gym or local sports centre, we’ve got some dieting super stars in the office, as well as the team signing up for an 18 mile charity walk!

Now without a doubt, that’s going to burn off those lingering Hobnobs!

They say you are what you eat, and for many UK professionals that spells trouble! According to the latest survey from the UK’s leading independent job board, CV-Library, nearly three quarters of workers (72.8%) believe that their job has had a negative effect on their health and what they eat, with 36.4% saying they have gained weight as a result.
