Monthly subscription services are becoming the norm for practically everything these days.
Even the automotive sector is jumping on board with it - which personally, I think is a great idea! This will ultimately give you more choice of cars (some of which could have been out of reach previously) plus more freedom to change it the following month if you fancy. What's not to like?
We're beginning to see new startups and manufacturers coming to market and putting fear into the dealerships with their offerings. A few of these newbies are:
- Drover
- Wagonex
- Carpe
Carpe, for example, is an arm from JLR and are offering their range on a month to month basis with all-inclusive mileage, maintenance and insurance (if you want it). Yes please!
I think ownership of vehicles is going to become a thing of the past. Bring on the #chopandchange revolution.
Over half of UK executives believe the number of physical dealerships will be reduced by 30-50% by 2025. According to a survey conducted by KPMG, many dealers see the future of travel to be more like a monthly or weekly subscription service, like Netflix or Spotify. The study also found that 67% of automotive executives believe they are capable of managing a platform service, like an app, to offer mobility services.
