One thing I think we can all agree on, we all hate pot holes!
I’ll set the scene… you’re driving along, singing away to your favourite track and BANG! Your wheel drops into a hole, deep enough to rival the Grand Canyon, with so much force you know you’re going to need physio for at least 6 months.
On a more serious note, these pot holes can do your car real damage and leave you out of pocket. Councils say that they’ll foot the bill via claims submitted, but surely having to do this is more of an inconvenience, ultimately what do we pay our car tax for?
On the other hand, fixing potholes requires road works which leads to traffic - another thing that I’m sure we all hate. So, it looks like we have a catch 22 problem on our hands as figures claim that it could take up to 14 years to clear the back log of pot holes…
It seems there’s going to be no quick fix for these dastardly pot holes just yet, unfortunately.
“Our own analysis of breakdown data shows the damage suffered by motorists is a constant source of frustration and expense, but the scale of the problem is obviously far greater than the numbers show.” English authorities, not including London, saw the worst rise in the number of pothole reports between 2015 and 2017 with a 55% jump from 269,486 to 417,881.
